"Kyoto is a great place for tourists. Very different to Tokyo. Best way to travel in Japan is by Shinkanzen trains and local metro. Hotel ANA has a courtesy bus to / from main railway station every 15 minutes, very helpful and friendly staff, reasonable English spoken. Buffet style breakfast included in room rate was good quality and a lot of choice. Kyoto is a big city, don't be tempted to walk between different places take a taxi, better still learn how to use the subway. Some of the most interesting places we saw were Katsura Imperial Villa and Gardens, guided tour only in Japanese; and Kiomisu dera temple area."
